I’m starting to explore the possibility of getting a metal hood ornament created, using the 3D model of the moose. Here’s some idea of the look I want. A big smile, tongue showing a bit, ears back as if blowing in the wind.
Here’s the process whereby this is being created. Starting with posing the 3D model, then modifying it for strength.
Taking design features from the Jaguar leaper. It will have threaded holes on the bottom,
And hopefully some kind of spring beneath the hood to give it some tolerance to man-handling.
So I probably have to modify the 3D model’s base, to get closer to a base for a car. I also probably need to modify the 3D model, before I print it on a 3D printer, to add details like this for the eyes.
Some 3D printing companies: Shapeways, Sculpteo, Ponoko, Quick Forge, i.materalize, and from i.materialize I’ve become interested in titanium. ( But the undersurface of the moose’s nose could be a problem.)
